First implemented in Chile, Czech Republic and Costa Rica… The cost is 2,600 won to 3,600 won. Foreign media such as TechCrunch reported on the 17th that Netflix will charge an additional fee when sharing an account with non-living family members or friends in some countries.
The policy will be implemented first in three Latin American countries: Chile, the Czech Republic, and Costa Rica.
When the service is introduced, it will be possible to add two sub-accounts to the Netflix main account. Sub-accounts can set their own passwords. Additional charges per account are 2,380 pesos in Chile, $2.99 in Costa Rica, and 2.11 Peruvian sols in Peru.
If the experiment in three Latin American countries is successful, Netflix plans to introduce the feature to other countries as well.
“We will first try to convince members of the three countries the usefulness of the new plan before expanding to other countries,” said Cheong Yi Long, director of product innovation at Netflix.
