Reporter Hyung-ki Park = The CEO of Moderna, who developed the coronavirus vaccine, made $5.3 billion by selling $400 million worth of Moderna stock, CNBC reported on the 17th.
Moderna CEO Stefan Bansel has sold about $400 million worth of stock sequentially since 2020, earning a total of $5.3 billion.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Moderna vaccine has been administered 209 million times in the U.S. alone, ranking second after Pfizer vaccine.
Modernas stock has surged 614% since January 23, 2020, when Moderna announced that it had received government funding to develop a vaccine.
The Moderna vaccine received emergency approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in December 2020. Since then, Moderna vaccines have sold like wings.
Moderna made $17.7 billion from sales of coronavirus vaccines alone in 2021, and is expected to make $19 billion in 2022.
Moderna made its first net profit last year thanks to vaccine sales. The company went public in December 2018.
