Piccoma, a comprehensive digital comics platform of Kakao Piccoma, which has released many works such as Japanese comics and Korean webtoons, started its official service in France on the 17th. Kakao Piccoma announced that it has established an optimized platform building strategy by analyzing local culture and content usage methods.
Piccoma is servicing Japanese manga and Korean webtoons at the same time. The company explained that it has put a lot of effort into servicing works that reflect users tastes, such as posting several Japanese manga and Korean webtoons that have not been released locally on the lineup of works.
In addition, he said that it will introduce a “wait-and-hold free” business model that allows users to experience content optimized for the digital environment.
Kakao Piccoma established Piccoma Europe in September last year to help Piccoma settle down in France and strengthen its competitiveness, and appointed CEO Kim Hyung-rae.
CEO Kim served as chief operating officer at Delitoon SAS, the first digital comics platform in Europe, and is evaluated as an expert in the local digital content industry. CEO Kim said, “We will continue to provide works of various genres that can satisfy the diverse tastes and needs of users.”
In the future, he said, “We will expand the scale to include not only French cartoons but also works from all over Europe.” Frances Piccoma can be accessed through the Android app, and will be available on iOS and the web in the first half of this year.
