According to CNN on the 16th, Germanys defense ministry has determined that the threat to European security has grown since the Ukraine war. Accordingly, it was decided to purchase additional fighters. Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced on the 27th of last month, right after the start of the Ukraine war, that he would invest an additional 100 billion euros in defense spending.
The German Ministry of Defense plans to import 35 F-35As to replace the obsolete Tornado bombers. The F-35A, a fighter from Lockheed Martin of the United States, has the ability to carry nuclear weapons and can perform operations to share US nuclear weapons deployed in Germany with the NATO in case of emergency. The F-35 is manufactured in three models, A, B, and C, and the F-35A is the only model equipped with a nuclear function.
