Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address to the Canadian Parliament, calling for aid from the West and calling for a no-fly zone over his country.
According to foreign media such as AFP on the 15th, President Zelensky said in a speech that he was destroying everything from memorials, schools, hospitals and houses, saying that they had already killed 97 Ukrainian children. Then we dont ask for much. What we are asking for is real support and justice that can help us win, defend, and save lives, he added.
Canadian lawmakers responded with a standing ovation to his enthusiastic remarks, AFP reported.
President Zelensky also asked again to set a no-fly zone over his country to stop Russian bombing, stating how many cruise missiles must land on our city before you do so. He then asked how Canadians would react if Russia besieged Vancouver, Canada, bombed Ottawa airport, or attacked the Toronto CN Tower.
Previously, North Atlantic Treaty Organization member states, including Canada, rejected the proposal for fear that the establishment of a no-fly zone in Ukraines airspace could lead to escalation.
Still, President Zelensky knows that you all support Ukraine. But I want you to feel and understand how we feel every day, many families have lost their lives, and every night is a terrible night. During his speech, he asked Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau how he would explain the war to his children, saying, “Can you imagine you and his children hearing the explosions from 4 am every morning?”
President Zelensky emphasized that residents of cities such as Mariupol, who are being attacked by Russian forces, are trapped in air-raid shelters, with electricity and heating cut off and food shortages. He expressed appreciation for Canadas decision to join sanctions against Russia and for providing military equipment and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, but unfortunately this did not end the war. He urged that more is needed to stop Russia and protect Ukraine.
