China Daily, a state-run English-language media outlet in China, has argued that American lobsters imported to Wuhan may be the cause of the coronavirus.

China Daily raised such suspicions on the 15th through a video news titled, “Is lobster imported from the United States related to the outbreak of Corona 19 in China?”
China Daily reported that “in July 2019, an e-cigarette-related pneumonia occurred in the United States, followed by imports of lobsters from the United States to Wuhan in November.” The Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market is presumed to be the place where the first case of coronavirus occurred around December 2019. It is now completely closed.
Regarding this, the media said, “Among market merchants, anyone who touched American lobster or lobster wrapping paper was the first to be infected with Corona. He also said that based on the remarks of local experts and the results of research, Corona can spread in the cold chain.
However, the media did not present scientific evidence, such as the association between pneumonia caused by e-cigarettes and the corona virus, and whether or not the lobster was detected. Instead, they just listed the events in chronological order. The article received more than 250,000 likes on Chinese social media Weibo in half a day.
Opinions on the origin of the corona are divided. Last year, a multinational research team from the U.S. University of Arizona and Korea University took part in the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan as the first place where the coronavirus occurred. At the end of his term, the former Trump administration in the United States claimed that the virus was leaked in an accident at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
China, on the other hand, has argued that the US, not its own, is the cause, such as that the US military, who participated in the World Military Games held in Wuhan in October 2019, may have spread the virus. The World Health Organization (WHO) investigation team investigated the origin of the virus through field investigations in Wuhan, but concluded that the possibility that it was leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology is very low.
