Last year, Huawei maintained its leading position in the global wireless communication equipment market, including 5G, with a 28.7% market share.
According to the global market research firm Del Oro Group on the 16th, Huawei accounted for a 28.7% share of global sales in the global telecommunication equipment market and ranked first in the telecommunication equipment market in 2021. These figures include broadband access, microwave and optical transmission, mobile core networks, radio access networks, optical transport and service provider routers, switch equipment, and more. Ericsson was in second place and Nokia was in third place.
It is analyzed that the reason Huawei was able to maintain its No. 1 position in market share in the aftermath of strong US sanctions was the surge in demand for 5G base stations in Chinas domestic market.
The Chinese government announced that it will build an additional 2 million 5G base stations this year. Last year, Huaweis market share fell to 18% in markets excluding China.
Samsung Electronics ranked sixth with 3.1%. The top seven suppliers, including Huawei, accounted for 80% of the market share.
The industry evaluated that Huaweis continuous expansion of its position based on its leading product portfolio in the telecommunication field and digital resilience was the most effective.
Meanwhile, according to the Del Oro Group, the global telecommunication equipment market grew by 2% in the fourth quarter of last year, and recorded a growth rate of 4% in a row, showing a 7% growth rate over the past year. The global telecommunication equipment market is expected to grow by 4% this year.
