[Digital Daily Reporter Shin Jae-in] To commemorate the World Water Day on March 22, government agencies are holding various events for all citizens to participate in.
World Water Day has been in effect since 1992. Every year on March 22, it is a day to reflect on the importance of water. It was designated by the United Nations to raise awareness about water quality pollution due to population growth and industrialization, and a shortage of drinking water around the world.
This year, on the occasion of the 30th World Water Day, the United Nations has selected groundwater as the theme of making the invisible visible. It means that we need to recognize the importance of groundwater to secure drinking water and maintain ecosystems around the world and make efforts to conserve it.
