On the 22nd, the presentation session of WeMade CEO Jang Hyun-guk was prepared at the GDC 2022 site.
[San Francisco, USA = Digital Daily Correspondent Park Hyun-young] The West Hall of Moscone Center, San Francisco, USA, where WeMade CEO Jang Hyun-guk held a presentation session, was full of game developers from all over the world. CEO Jang appeared as a speaker at the worlds largest game developer conference GDC 2022 on the 22nd.
CEO Jang introduced WeMades blockchain-based games, including Mir 4, and explained why a blockchain-based economic system should be applied to games. He also emphasized that the game to which the blockchain economic system is applied is the metaverse.
Among the developers gathered at the site on this day, there were many developers who were thinking about whether to apply the blockchain economic system such as virtual assets and NFTs to the game being developed.
In response to a developers point that there is a negative aspect to the perception of applying the blockchain economic system, CEO Jang said, “It becomes more interesting when the blockchain economic system is attached to a fun game. As the game becomes more fun, the perception will change.” He added, “There may be differences in timing and degree, but within the next three years, all games will apply the blockchain economic system.”
CEO Jang explained the strengths of the blockchain economic system based on the lifecycle of MIR4. In general, multiplayer role-playing games show a pattern of high sales in the first month of release, and then stabilizing as sales decrease.
On the other hand, MMORPGs to which the blockchain economic system was applied had less sales in the first month and showed a steady increase in sales, CEO Jang explained. Mir 4 is a prime example.
CEO Jang said, “As users continued to trade virtual assets and NFTs, the game economy developed more complex.” He said that this phenomenon had a positive effect on sales. It is explained that sales have steadily increased as the economy in the game has been more revitalized.
Thanks to these advantages, CEO Jang predicts that other games will also apply the blockchain economic system. To this end, WeMade will release a software development kit for blockchain games for game developers next year.
CEO Jang said, “This year, we will research through the experience of onboarding 100 games to Wemix and release an open SDK for developers next year.” Earlier, WeMade announced a plan to onboard 100 games to the blockchain platform ‘Wemix’ by the end of this year.
He further emphasized, “With the release of the SDK, we will be able to provide guidelines on how to release blockchain games.”
