Reporter Min-Jeong Cho = The Blue House announced on the 22nd that it would make efforts to conduct a thorough investigation into the public petition to punish the perpetrators in relation to the death of a YouTuber who suffered from cyberbullying.
The petition was about a case in which a YouTuber made an extreme choice in February after suffering from malicious comments over the controversy that he made a male-hating gesture. He accused him of being the perpetrator and demanded punishment.
In response, the Blue House said that this case was reported to the police cybercrime reporting system in February, and the police started an investigation before the arrest, and secured four original videos distributed by a YouTuber who was mentioned as the perpetrator. He said an investigation had been conducted.
He said that there are currently no complaints from the family, but the investigative agency is considering whether it is possible to punish him for insults or defamation.
Then, in the case of online bullying, so-called cyberbullying, such as this petition, punishment is provided with legal provisions such as insults and defamation of the Information and Communications Network Act, but it is true that the current legal protection system and punishment are insufficient compared to the damage suffered by individuals. It is even more sad, he added.
